Sue Njuguna (Founder and head of operations)

Destiny Support is the brainchild of Sue Njuguna set up to provide independent living support services to a wide range of clients. Sue’s confidence of setting up Destiny Support was the experience gained after working in the sector and after several years of incubating the idea, she decided to put things in motion in 2008.
Her personal experiences is a contributing factor as well and Sue’s passion in working with people is evident as she gets satisfaction in making a difference in people’s life. Her management background in the marketing and advertising world is an added advantage as her focus is important to managing a Customer Service led team.
Sue acknowledges that vulnerable people need the holistic support necessary and realises that ‘we all need Significance, Security and Self-worth and hope to give this back to those who have lost it’. The organisation has a team of skilled Staff, Volunteers and Board of Directors in place who have all worked in organisations supporting a diverse client group.




MEET THE BOARD

Ash Verma (Chairman)

Born in Jullundur, Punjab, India, Ash has lived in Slough, Berkshire since February 1958.  He is a social entrepreneur, businessman and former senior British civil servant, with over forty years of experience and expertise in many aspects of British Government policy, funding and programme development and delivery in public/voluntary and private sector partnership projects and initiatives.  This ranges from: inner cities regeneration; economic development; enterprise and entrepreneurship, education and skills, to international trade and investment; ISO 9001/Quality Assurance and Investors in People; community development and cohesion, race relations and equal opportunities and healthcare and wellness.  
His passion to bring business and communities together and create meaningful legacies, is longstanding.  Ash was included in the first ever publication of the Asian Power 100 in September 2005 and again in September 2007 as one of a select number of key influencers on Asian matters in the UK, as well as for his overall contribution to regeneration, economic and community development, equal opportunities and promoting international trade. He is also featured in the Asian Who’s Who. 

Ash has held senior management positions - Chief Executive of the former Heathrow City Partnership, West London Task Force and Senior Race Relations Employment Adviser for the then Employment Department Group.  Currently, Ash is Chairman of Enterprise Wellness Limited (EW), one of the oldest enterprise agencies in London, which also manages Healthwatch Harrow – the local consumer voice for health and social care and Chairman of Destiny Support, Community Interest Company (CIC), dedicated to offering support to vulnerable people.  Ash is also the architect of Gateway Asia a business led, knowledge driven B2B venture established some fifteen years ago to help SMEs to do business in, and with, emerging markets, especially India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, China, South Korea, Mauritius, Bangladesh and Kenya.  Ash has led trade delegations across Europe, Africa, Asia and North America and has formal connections at senior levels with various overseas Government and business organisations.
Apart from property business, professional and cultural interests, Ash enjoys watching cricket, football and rugby, but above all spending as much time as possible with his family and grandchildren.   Ash is also a regular judge for various business awards, such as West London business, Asian TV Awards, Asian Food and Restaurant Awards, as well as an award sponsor and presenter on Asian radio and TV channels on current affairs.

Ash believes that one needs to have inspiration from within and those around you, as well as having a vision, focus and pride in one’s ethnic and cultural heritage.   A targets and outcomes oriented person, Ash has been inspired by Mahatma Gandhi, ‘the Great Soul in a beggar’s garb’ as the poet Tagore called him and inspiration to many, such as Martin Luther King and Nelson Mandela.  He believes that his affinity with Gandhi’s struggle for justice, fairness and equality have given him the courage to challenge the status quo.




Heather Hyams (Board of Directors)

Heather has worked in Slough for over 12 years and is an enthusiastic supporter of Destiny Support. She brings many years experience of community engagement, fundraising and project management to the board.



Inder Kalsi

The Property Bank’s Founder and Managing Director

Inder has been in the property industry since 1986. He initially worked for a number of Partnerships for over 12 years and was instrumental to their success. Since forming The Property Bank in 1998, Inder has personally dealt with every client at some point, whether a first-time landlord or a tenant, hence his business has been solely built his on referrals. Inder’s business plays a key role in supplying Private Sector Housing to the local Authorities ensuring local people get local homes and helping long term stability for vulnerable families. His business development skills have played a key role in the steady growth of the business. Inder now with his trusted team runs the first Residential Letting Agency in the area accredited by the National Landlord Association.




Gill Robinson (Secretary)

Gill has many ears of administration experience ranging from banking to a doctors receptionist in a large and busy surgery.

For the last 15 years she and her husband have built up a general insurance brokerage based in Burnham.
